A memorandum of agreement was signed between FPInnovations, novaNAIT Boreal Research Institute, and the Woodland Operations Learning Foundation (WOLF) in September 2007. Our fourth partner, Weberville Community Model Forest, signed the memorandum of agreement in the fall of 2010. Each of these organizations has distinctive and complementary programs which foster synergies and efficiencies in areas of common interest and expertise.

FPInnovations

 - is the largest forest research organization in the world. It represents the integration of the previous organizations – Forintek, Feric, Paprican and the addition of CFS Canadian Wood Fibre Centre. FPInnovations has an extensive membership base of forest industry companies, government agencies and equipment manufacturers in Alberta and throughout Canada.

novaNAIT Boreal Research Institute

 – The novaNAIT Boreal Research Institute, formerly known as the Boreal Forest Research Centre, is a partnership of forest products companies, government and NAIT; a technical training institute. Since its inception in 1996, the Boreal Institute has been a key organization for forestry research, technology transfer, public awareness, distance learning and promotion of forestry careers.

The Boreal Research Institute is the administrative arm of AFEX and the operational centre for the AFEX Coordinator.

Woodland Operations Learning Foundation 

– WOLF is a non-profit business established in May 2001 by forest stakeholders to develop and deliver training to individuals and companies involved in forest harvest operations in western Canada. WOLF's training program is designed to be industry-driven to meet the needs of the logging industry and many other specializations within the forest industry
